In the course we will deal with international children's rights. After an introduction to the origins and development of international children's rights law and its embedding in international human rights protection, we will mainly deal with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The scope and structure of the CRC and its Optional Protocols, the general principles and the enforcement mechanisms of the CRC are discussed. We will also deal with the equal rights of children (resembling those of every individual), the differentiated rights of children (enhancing the rights of every individual) and child-specific rights (which are not set forth in other human rights treaties).
